MISANTHROPY - MISANTROPIA
Misanthropy is a reflection on the current imposition of a way of life where people are forced to fit into the artificial active gear of urban society, to the detriment of their own nature, and also, the greater pressure applied on women, whose body, attitudes, decisions and behaviors are always under scrutiny and social inquisition about their compliance, or not, with the imposed parameters.
Fashion stands as a paradigm of this imposition, it is an increasingly vertiginous circuit currently defined by a format of constant renewal of trends, which is multiplied and amplified to exhaustion through social networks. The windows of the brands that dominate the market in the main streets are only the last clip that staples the canon that oppresses women, but is nevertheless enormously expressive of the situation, since they show the canon imposed without limitation or modesty: extreme thinness, impossible bodies, clothes dressed in an unreal way, torturous heels, and from an emotional point of view, apathy, expressionlessness, hieratism, nonexistence, inability to leave a mark and follow your own path. This is the model that we must follow, who they want us to be and it is unceasingly offered in every showcase.
In my work I unite these elements, underlining their connections and seeking to demonstrate the consequences of this imposition, among others, the demonization of the natural body of women and as a result, insecurity, lack of communication and unhappiness.
